Following up from the video, here’s @weston_baird and his trophy Hungarian red stag he took on the last day of his hunt with @passionandprey.
Europe’s system of paying for the antler weight or horn/tusk length is as fair as it comes. There is a modest day rate and accomodation charge associated with most hunts but the main expense comes from trophies you harvest. The critical point being if you don’t shoot an animal you don’t have high hunt costs. With their superb management that generally doesn’t happen.
This is a reverse of the system many outfitters and guides charge in the US and I have to agree I really like the European hunt model. It means the guides and hunt managers are continually working for you in order to harvest the type of trophy you are looking for.
I’ve heard dozens and dozens of sub standard hunt reports coming back from Aussies hunting in the states and Canada for elk, moose, deer, sheep ect, nothing is a certainty with wild free range hunting but it certainly seems like a percentage of outfitters are keen to over sell the hunt and under deliver when its go time.
A mate had two bowhunting buddies recently return from an Idaho public land guided elk hunt this week and it was nothing short of a clusterfcuk from day 1. From door to door including hunt, tags and airfares it was a 10k experience for each of them they will never forget.
If the states is on your wish list do you research and get reference from all past hunters for a good period of time, there is some really good outfitters over there, some are buddies of mine. But if you want a different style of international hunt then our European trips have always been of a high standard.🍃

Located in Japan, Casa 'na' (2010) by Studio Architect Shuji Hisada. Set in the country of a small farming village, this house was designed for a young family of middle class with a young parent and three daughters. Studio Architect Shuji Hlsada tried to create a 'Place' more than 'Space' for their life and a certain direction of a 'Image' for their selection any furnitures + making a garden, a terrace and so on freely. Shuji Hlsada decided to use almost all wood as a structure and finishing material. He hopes the exterior's wall will be covered in ivy in the future. More on this and other projects in the site.
