PACIFIC NORTHWEST WONDERLAND
From beaches to blue runs, our family has had some great adventures this winter. My youngest finally got back out on the slopes with dad at @stevenspass. We’ve had some gorgeous late winter snow conditions and they’ve spent hours on the hills. Too bad the season is almost over!
Where’s been the best place you’ve skied?
I’ve been dreaming of returning to Castaway Cay and the golden sand beaches and turquoise blue water. The few hours we spent on our #DisneyPartner#disneysmmc cruise there wasn’t long enough!
I have a new blog post (check my stories for the swipe up link!) with a Disney Cruise packing list in case you’re heading out on your own @disneycruiseline trip!
Have you cruised before? What’s your favorite part of cruising?
#DisneyPartner Our family loves to cruise. We enjoy the stops along the way, food options galore, and the amazing stage shows onboard. We had our first opportunity to give @disneycruiseline a try this past week and loved it! If you have Disney fans you’ll love the way Disney has created this cruise especially for you! Our 3-day cruise was filled with character meet ‘n greets, Disney musical shows (including Beauty and the Beast), and cast members who showcased that signature Disney customer service. .
Do you enjoy theme park themed lands?
What’s your favorite?
Today was our first exposure to the new World of Pandora at @waltdisneyworld!
I’m always amazed at the creation that goes into these theme park attractions. We’ve seen the movie Avatar and the land of Pandora was beautifully done to immerse you in that world. The Flight of Passage attraction was a huge hit with the family! #disneysmmc .
WALT DISNEY WORLD
As a west coaster I consider Disneyland my home park, but last night’s sunset at Cinderella’s castle created a soft spot in my heart for WDW. We had a long travel day (red eye + six hour airport wait before hotel room was ready) but the girls said we had to head into the parks our first night. .
Do you have a favorite Disney Park or attraction?
I’ve spent the last 3 days in El Paso TX partnering with them to check out the fun things to do on a girls trip to the area. Happy to have my podcast partner @we3travel along for the adventure. We toured a boot factory, went wine tasting, ate some yummy Mexican food, climbed through an abandoned mine, and raced ATVs through the sand. We had a fabulous time and @visitelpaso is a great spot for a girlfriends getaway in the southwest!
Have you ever been on a girls getaway trip?
Have you ever heard stories about a place and it shapes your entire understanding of that place? For me, Central Park had a connotation of danger. But after speaking with friends I realized it was somewhat unfounded and I found myself enjoying a lovely walk through the park on my own last week. Sure, I wouldn’t go there at night, and I kept alert to my surroundings as any single traveler should, but in the end I challenged that preconceived notion and came out with a great story and a new visual understanding of what Central Park is like. Travel is awesome like that, when you allow yourself to experience a place, it suddenly becomes real instead of an imaginary place of rumor.
Have you had any travel moments where reality proved your imagination wrong?
When Tamara @we3travel mentioned the pyramid top of the Met I had no idea how lovely it would be! The fresh light and open space certainly isn’t what I picture when I envision art museums. Loved the building of the Met almost as much as the art!
Do you have a favorite museum? .
CHECK OUT THAT VIEW!
Can you believe that it’s my very first visit to New York City!? As any good tourist would do, I went to the Empire State Building. What a view! Amazing city view from the 86th floor, and hey, you can even see lady liberty 🗽 in the water in the distance!
Have you been you NYC?
I spent last week in Vegas, touring booths indoors. Finally we escaped on our last day for some outside sunshine and found this colorful shopping district as we sought out In n Out for lunch. I had to stop and snap a shot since this isn’t always the Vegas many people imagine! Looks more like Downtown Disney if you ask me! :)
Have you been to Vegas?
LOOKING UP...LOOKING HOPEFUL
This start of the year getaway has been one of the best things. Soaking up sunshine and chatting plans and successes, I’m thinking every new year needs to start with a girlfriends getaway!
Have you embraced the new year with hope and renewal?
I’m in Phoenix, Arizona and I’m reminded again that the desert really is a beautiful place! So different than the Pacific Northwest. I’m here on a girlfriends getaway and we spent yesterday morning on a UTV tour in the desert. Do you know what a UTV is? It’s kind of a rugged golf cart and was a bit safer than ATVs. So much fun!!
Have you ever been to the desert 🌵?
It’s that time of year when we’re so busy we forget that it’s the season of peace! Here’s hoping you find some peaceful travel spots this holiday season!
If you’re leaving your home this holiday season I’ve created a checklist on the blog to help get your home prepped for departure. #ad One of our tips that gives us some peace while we’re away is having lights on timers so our home isn’t the dark spot on the block. We use @hivehome_us Active Lights that feature a Mimic mode that varies the on and off time to look more authentic.

Another shot from my trip in Northern California- any guesses what I’m holding?
This little seed pod is the starting stage of a giant coastal redwood tree. Quite amazing that something so big and strong can come from something so small.
Nature is pretty amazing, makes me want to be amazing too! :)
TRAVEL FOOD YUMS
My youngest, Mia, has recently started saying she wants to go to Paris, France. When I asked her why, amongst her list of whys was macarons. Dare I spoil this nut & egg allergy kiddo’s heart and tell her macarons are made with almond flour & eggs?! 😢
Snapped these pretty macarons at the @seatacairport booth for @ladyyum where I promptly fell in love with their flavors and the mini bottles of bubbly you can add for packing the perfect gift while traveling! Now to figure out how to plan a trip to France!
It's cold and rainy here in Seattle (not a surprise for the winter) so I'm dreaming of my time spent at Clearwater Beach, FL earlier this month. While the sand was some of the softest I've ever experienced I was still happy to find seashells dotting the beach. My youngest would have been collecting like crazy! .
Do you have any warm weather plans for the winter season?
Spending four days in Clearwater FL and started my trip off with a stroll along the beach early in the morning. I cannot get over how soft this sand is!! It truly is white powder sand, reminds me of my kids' moon sand. I also love their colorful lifeguard towers!
Have you ever been to a white powder beach? Where?
During my recent trip to @visittheoc we took a champagne brunch cruise in Newport Beach, CA. Pretty nice way to enjoy the gorgeous SoCal weather!
Are you a fan of bubbly? 🍾
For the past couple of years my Octobers have been jam packed and I've missed taking my girls to the pumpkin patch. But this year I kept my schedule light so I was able to say yes when Mia asked to go. One of our favorite activities was the corn maze where we had to find clues at various stations to solve the pumpkin patch whodunit.
Do you enjoy pumpkin patches and corn mazes?
I still can't believe I was able to experience this amazing sighting. Even though I live in the Pacific Northwest, I've never seen orca whales in the wild. However during my recent trip to @visittheoc California I finally can say I have! I went on a whale watching trip out of Dana Wharf near Laguna Beach and we had a small pod of orcas play alongside our boat. They were bow riding and crossing back and forth under the boat. It was a magical experience!
Have you ever been whale watching? Did you know orcas aren't actually whales?

Any others our there that feel summer is getting shorter and shorter?! How can it already be fall, and almost Halloween?! Captured this shot in @visitventura after dinner - I remember racing towards the beach as the sun was setting, hoping to get just a glimpse of the orange light as it settled on the horizon. I even passed a man leaving the beach who said to me, "you missed it". I don't think I missed it, what do you think? Maybe that's how I should view summer, yeah it's gone, but I didn't miss it...I held on until the very end! :)
Are you mourning the loss of summer or remembering the memories you've created and looking forward to fall?
A little coastal sunset time with my new camera! #sponsored As a mom and a traveller I'm accustomed to spending money. But I've recently become interested in being smart about earning travel miles while I'm spending. All those back to school and work expenses are helping me earn free hotel nights and plane tickets. I love that my daily spending earns me free travel (or even cashback) by using credit cards efficiently and of course responsibly. But don't get just any credit card, do your research on @creditcardscom to find the best card for your goals and spending habits!
