Hello everyone and Welcome to part 21 of learning more about Brown Bears(Ursus Arctos).
Hit that like button for support, let's see if we can hit 1000 likes on this one. 🙈😍
The normal range of physical dimensions for a brown bear is a head-and-body length of 1.4 to 2.8 m (4 ft 7 in to 9 ft 2 in) and a shoulder height of 70 to 153 cm (2 ft 4 in to 5 ft 0 in). The tail is relatively short, as in all bears, ranging from 6 to 22 cm (2.4 to 8.7 in) in length.
However when spring comes and these bears wake up from Hibernation, they can be very small.
For example female brown bears can be as small as the smallest bear in the world (sun bear).
But of course that all depends on where these brown bears or it's Subspecies are currently living at.
While some female brown bears can be as small as Sun bears after they wake up from Hibernation, some Male Brown Bears can be as large as the worlds biggest non extinct bear (The Polar Bear).
So basically, their size depends all on where they live.
And the fact that brown bears live in different places around the world, is the reason why they are slightly or a lot genetically different from each other. They need to adapt to their new surroundings, and that's why their bodies change and why there are subspecies.😍
