MORE is MORE!
More lighting is a better choice than not enough lighting in a reef aquarium. If you plan to have corals clams and anemones, you will need a lighting system that produces enough PAR or intensity. It is better to be able to turn lighting down than not give enough to grow your corals. If you try to get away with "just enough light" your tank will show it. A quality lighting system and excellent protein skimmer is what makes a reef tank work. Small polyp stony (SPS) corals and clams need a lot of PAR in the lighting as do many anemones. Bite the bullet when setting the tank up and spend the extra few $100 for the higher-end lighting if this is what you like or plan to keep. It will pay off in the long run. 🌊🌊🌊
