It’s the end of my second week in #Rishikesh. Now that I’m away from my favorite oat milk latte, I got hooked on Masala chai, even though it makes me insomniac, so I stay up until 3am and get up at 5.30am to practice. After breakfast at around 10am, I get back to sleep, up past noon, read a book, do more yoga, and either explore the town on my own or hang out with my new #Ashtanga friends at cafes - where we drink more chai 🤦♀️. Quiet simple life of a chai-holic. To give you a perspective, the two BIGGEST events of this week were: 1) I got mugged by a monkey; 2) my teacher, Louise, taught me four new poses - okay, in the Ashtangi life, this one is kinda huge because sometimes this doesn’t happen in years. Before this week, I got my last pose 8 months ago. Back to the 🐒 story though. I was carrying a bag with mangoes when out of nowhere he leaped over and started pulling it. When I yelled at him and pulled back, he used a finger nail to cut the plastic bag open. I hugged the bag from below, but one mango slipped through. The monkey looked at me for a second and then at the mango on the floor, as if considering if he wants to fight for the rest of the fruits, but ended up going for the unguarded one. I got so angry with the monkey! Until the next day when I saw him from afar, digging through trash cans, lookin for food. 😢 It’s not his fault he is deprived of his natural habitat and has to fight for food. Now I feel embarrassed for being so angry over that stupid mango. I wish I could go back in time and give all of them to him. 😔

Hi friends! I was dreaming of doing a Yin Yoga teacher training for some time now and finally took the courage to ask for your help to be able to do it! I created a crowdfunding campaign! The link is http://www.gofundme.com/rita-yin-yoga-tt (also in my bio). I really appreciate any support you can give me!! 🙏❤️
When I started to practice Yin yoga It was difficult, but I decided to continue practicing at least once a week. At the end of two sessions, I began to feel such a great difference in my hips, that are naturally not very flexible. I also began to feel that this passive practice gave me more time and opportunity to look further inward, to learn to deal with the feelings that came to the surface. I realized that it was a practice very closely linked to mindfulness, to staying present. And I dived into books to learn more and more. And I began to experiment in myself, different sequences, different holding times. Always with a soft breath with sound. Always being present and observing without judgment. Trying to understand where the discomfort comes from, what emotions are stuck in every part of my body. And over many months of practice I felt a great transformation, not only on my joints but also an internal transformation, a greater awareness and respect for my body. A greater understanding of myself.
The combination of the two practices, Ashtanga and Yin is in my opinion perfect. The balance between Yin and Yang, between the feminine and the masculine, the cold and the hot, the inner and the outer, the Moon and the Sun. In an eternal and continuous growth, understanding and acceptance of who we are.
