Would you walk across this ‘vine bridge’ located deep in the Iya Valley on Shikoku Island, Japan? @dondeestadk and the group did and it was pretty spectacular (and rather frightening for some)!
Although the origins are unknown common belief is that the original bridge was constructed from strong wisteria vines in the 1100s. #japan#setouchi#iyavalley#asia#travel#adventure#bridges#beauty#travelgram
Big shifts have been happening and still are happening in my life. Transformation. Development. Change. Finding balance. Clarity. Confusion. 🌉
It feels like crossing a huge high bridge with beautiful views and at the same time a bit scary because it’s so high and busy and wobbly that I have to balance to stay on the bridge. Sometimes I even enjoy the view. Sometimes I reach land and then I’m back on the bridge again, sometimes even scarier, sometimes way easier.
Life is full of bridges, helping us from one side to another. Crossing over. Transforming. Changing perspective.
Crossing this beautiful bridge in Rishikesh felt very symbolic for that. With the holy river Ganges flowing wildly underneath, making me feel blessed, crossing from one side of this city to another, meeting all sorts of beautiful people, cows, but also noisy scooters on the way, ... I love these metaphors from our surroundings to reflect on and learn from. .
So I've been reading A LOT lately: online articles, new books, old books, newspapers, poetry. Quietly catching up on things that I've missed, things of interest and value (does not include politics), which means I haven't been writing as much. And I do believe that I've been avoiding, to a large degree, completing an important task worth completion. My book deserves that. My readers deserve that. My journey deserves that. Please forgive. 😔 **
Today, I came across a retweet posted by one of literary mentors (MG) who is currently writing about the importance of mentorship...and...how we should monopolize on the snowy days this week to work on those drafts and much required edits. Then I came across three book interviews that I had not confirmed. 😦😩😶 **
While I spent most of the day on administrative tasks, scheduling travel, reading, etc. I sorely missed the opportunity to find a quiet corner and write, while the snow was falling. So I'm writing now at 2A.M. Its my most sacred thought-provoking window of any given day. I'm facing the beat and the beautiful beasts of the edits to my forthcoming memoir. I've been slacking and I hate to admit it. 😑 But I'm getting it done. If it kills me. But it won't. Because it is beauty. And breath. And benevolence. And life. And pure love. And my heartbeat. #Bridges#memoirmagic#onwriting#onbreathingspace#onaccountability#onworthiness#onprocrastination#onvulnerability#ongettingshitdone#writers#writing#writinglife
