I remember having dates during my last trimester when I was pregnant with Nayel. When my water bag broke at home, all I was doing was walking and having dates. And I truly believe it helped me immensely during my labor. Not just any dates- #ajwa 💕
. . “And shake toward you the trunk of the palm tree; it will drop upon you ripe, fresh dates. (Quran 19:25) This was some of the advice Allah swt gave to Maryam RA as she was in labor, about to give birth to Eesa (Jesus) AS.
What’s amazing is that Allah’s advice to Maryam in this ayah and the ones surrounding it, to eat dates, drink water, and remove herself to somewhere quiet where she could be calm during labor has finally been confirmed by modern science, 1400 years later.
The more I read and prepare, the more in awe I become at just how encompassing and amazing the Quran really is. Much research talks about the influence and importance of hormones and how a mother who is in a relaxed as opposed to fearful or stressed state is more likely to have a smoother, less painful experience.
Those who ate 5-6 dates in the weeks leading up to their due date:
- 96% of the women who consumed dates went into spontaneous labor and did not have to be induced (compared to 79% of those who didn’t)
- Only a small percentage of women who consumed dates needed pitocin (28%) vs those who didn’t consume dates (47%)
This Ramadan I’m lucky once again to have a good supply of Ajwa dates all the way from Mecca by my parents in law. They are the perfect ones in sweet flavor, most nutritious and ofcourse our Prophet Muhammad pbuh ‘s favorite too! Which one’s do you enjoy having?

Did you see this little invitation to create a bird nest we did today on our stories? Today's #natureplaymay prompt was warm so we made a nest where a mummy bird might keep her eggs warm. We made cinnamon playdough and birds eggs out of salt dough and it was so quick and EASY I just had to share how to make it all incase it inspires someone else 💕 so here is the recipe for the playdough it seriously smells So good!
1 cup flour
1/4 cup of salt
2 tsp cream of tartar
3 or so tbsp of cinamon or mixed spice ( I used both)
1/2 cup boiled water
Mix dry ingredients then add wet ingredients and knead until it is combined! I will post how we made the eggs a little bit later so keep an eye out!
Have you ever seen this done with a 🎈!?!? Circus show at the Spiegeltent for the @pdCarnivale. Kids loved this family show....For more info check out my #linkinbio OR search "5 Good Things about the Port Douglas Carnivale"

If you wouldn’t mind answering a few questions... What was your set up for capturing this shot? How comfortable are you getting in the frame with your kiddo(s)? Do you have an idea for another moment you’d like to be in the frame?
Keep tagging #pho_mom_grapher, when you get in the frame with your little ones, to give us permission to share.
The best advice I was given in pregnancy was not about the labour or parenting. It was definitely the one that said to have the baby bookcase low to the ground, making it easy for Arthur to take the books off the shelf and put them back independently. It encourages reading and you know what they say.. the more you read, the more things you will know. The more you learn, the more places you will go. In participation of this, I even made him join a local library when he was 3 weeks old (talking about overly motivated mother). The staff know him quite well by now. All I hear is ‘How is it going, Arthur?’, ‘What have you done with sunshine today, Arthur?’ or ‘No farting in the library, young man’. Yes, the last one really happened. Hope his love of books will be forever growing till death do them part 📖🙌🏼.
