Being in a state of discomfort is pretty awful. It’s normal to feel like we need to escape this feeling. It’s easy to make unhealthy choices when in this state because we are attempting in any way to make ourselves feel better. .
When things feel out of control, it helps to slow down, then stop and truly turn inward. Sit inside the discomfort. Right in the core of it. Acknowledge it. Feel the pain of it. Ask for help from the Divine, members of your community, loved ones. Do your best to make healthy choices. Forgive yourself and be kind to yourself. Let go.
Stuck in an infinite thought loop? When we get fixated on a thought, perhaps something we want to say to someone, feeling like we were wronged, feeling cornered, etc. it can help to write down our thoughts. Even when we express our anger to the people we are frustrated with, we only fuel our own fires. We will keep thinking of more and more things to say. Something about writing things down relieves that pressure without continuing to stoke it. If you’re trying to put out a flame that’s burning hot through your mind and body, try writing down everything you want to say and then close your journal or computer, and walk away. I guarantee you will feel differently. Today’s the perfect day to take 15 minutes to yourself and try this exercise. 📸 by @poppybarach
Around three years ago I self published a poem that was intensely personal to me both as person but also a nurse. We all learn to cope with death differently and this the tale of an experience that helped me cope with the passing of my grandfather and my first patient as a nurse. I plan on writing a blog looking at this more in depth but for now enjoy my poem if you can
Sunday’s are usually a good day to be creative right? Wrong! The day of rest is just as jam packed as the others! Take a few moments out of your day to be creative. Draw. Write. Dance. Scream. Bam something. Whatever it is, get that serotonin working!
Good morning! Had a rough sleepless night between st. Jean babtiste fire works till midnight then Raya having nightmares mixed with my usual insomnia..so woke up angry and swearing because I was woken unnessarily by my father shutting off my sound machine at 7 am when I was finally in a deep sleep. Anyway long story short I was angry! Then I realized my anger was only further hurting myself so I stopped and went outside to be in nature. Birds chirping, sun out, finding beauty everywhere. I let the anger go. Now I’m just tired but at least I’m not angry. 💜 #takeastepback#getinnature#letitgo#learning#mindfulness#morningmeditation
