Just because we improve, doesn’t mean we never feel bad again. Improvement means we feel bad for shorter periods of time, that are more spread out, and less intense than before. Life happens and can sometimes pull us under water. But when we learn the tools we need to care for and regulate ourselves, we learn to resurface more easily and quickly. Measuring growth and recovery is different for each individual.
It takes courage to ask for help. The willingness to show up and be fully seen and known. It doesn't get braver than that!
I too have suffered from depression for many years. It took a full mental and physical burn out in 2014 for me to hit rock bottom.
From there I made drastic changes to my life and it has been one hell of a journey. But I love my journey and I learned to look at it as a gift.... a gift I can now pass on to others. To teach and help..... how not to end up completely overwhelmed by anxiety or consumed by stress and perfection/performance.
I have been there and can meet you at your most vulnerable self. ❤️
