a couple weeks ago I was talking about my awkward deva cut shape.. since I'm not going to cut it I thought this would be a good time to experiment and it's looks like i found something that been working! (Well a few things lol)
I've been paying more attention to how I refresh my hair and that's been key to getting a more "tamed" shape. How much water I put on my hair (yeah I can over do it on water 🤦♀️), how much product I use and the way I scrunch, can really determine the results once its dry. My hair is that sensitive lol. I can also already tell if I'm going to have a good or bad hair day while I'm refreshing. I'll go more into detail on another post since I have a video on a good refresh vs a bad refresh 😁
My questions: I wonder what going natural would be like? Can I go without heat? What if I don’t like it? Will others like my natural hair? Will others think my natural hair is ugly or makes me uglier?
Others comments: I like your hair straight, I don’t think you will be able to handle it, it’s not curly it’s a fro, it’s tough, it’s tick, it’s coarse, hmmm I don’t like it, i don’t know, I’m not sure about it, what is going on with your hair!, no sah it’s not nice Charlette!
.......................................................Firstly from a young age I’m just realising what was taught to my parents and then to me about what beauty is and what is acceptable. It’s time to be the real authentic you, until doing this transition back to my natural hair I didn’t know I wasn’t living my true self but it’s so freeing not to be reliant on every heat, chemical or other rubbish we put on our hair. I don’t know I just feel better and because of that I don’t care about the negative comments and questions. My hair is my own. Questions I previously have don’t bother me. I’m learning about me and my hair and finally learning how to really look after it and yes there’s days it’s so matted I’m like.....lord help my soul not to take scissors or heat to it and then there’s days it’s like this picture and I’m like thank the hair gods because I was was screaming on the inside. Anyways my hair has a long way to go and this isn’t my hair type as it’s still transitioning and I’m making do but today was a positive step towards great hair and acceptance!
Curly hair update moment! Going back to natural since November and finally worked out the no blow dry and doing a flexirod set. I been cutting as I go but today I actually feel good about the transition from damage hair to embracing my curls! TURNING POINT!
The London weather definitely has everybody on a high today! 🌞
It's amazing what the sunshine can do for your mood!
Any Londoners here?? ______________________________________________________
Day 3 hair - I applied a little conditioner to my ends today before detangling and rinsing in the shower.
I love the @cantubeautyuk Creamy Hair Lotion and would say that day 1 and 2 are my best days when using this product, particularly in the summer months.
By day 3 I feel that my hair needs a little boost to keep the refresh days going and to keep my hair happy (hence the conditioner). I finished off styling using the @sheamoistureuk Weightless Texture Spray.

Here is how to use Olaplex N°3 to separate your curls!
After pre-styling and diffusing your hair until 90% dry, put a little bit of Olaplex N°3 to separate your curls (especially the ones with frizzy ends) before you finish drying. this personal #CurlTip is to keep reactivating the #Olaplex with water on your hands to stretch it out & help prevent causing even more frizz. This is also a great mini treatment.
Let’s talk about SLEEPY TIME 😴 .
A year ago I started putting my hair in a pineapple at night (left) - which loosely holds curls into place above your head in a scrunching looped around once. And it’s been a great way to save my curls while I sleep. .
Since my recent haircut, however, the pineapple hasn’t been cutting it (I’d wake up with half my hair out and it’s all so messy)! So I’ve been perfecting my turban-tying skills with a square, silk @cabiclothing scarf I had on hand. I still make a pineapple with as much hair as fits, then tie it all up in the scarf (right pic). So far it’s been working out but I’m not 100% sold on this as a permanent solution...I prefer my head to be “free” and let my scalp breathe overnight (weird, I know).
What’s your nighttime curl-protection routine? Do you pineapple? Turban/sleep cap? Neither? 🍍👳🏼♀️💤
