These images are exercises that are generally considered to be acceptable uses for a squat rack. I didn’t include barbell curls because that’s an exercise that is commonly frowned upon by most gym members when it involves using the station for that purpose. I’ve previously held a neutral position concerning the subject because if no one else is using the station, why not? Especially if the gym is slow, you’re not really occupying the station and only using it between sets with another exercise nearby. However, let’s say you’re doing that but some one wants to squat or deadlift or both because it’s their leg day. As of now I learned that’s when it becomes an issue for other people. I feel thats when you should extend the courtesy of grabbing yourself an ez barbell or weighted one if super-setting curls while you’re using another station is “seriously” in your routine. That’s the position I pretty much had with another gym member today when I approached him about me wanting to train my legs on the squat rack which reserved for bicep curls. I asked him if he was using the station before I just starting removing plates thinking that he would have a similar thought process as me by either allowing me to work in with a warm up set or go grab a 70lbs weighted barbell. I received a “yea I’m using it” for a reply as he continued to sit on the incline bench. I hesitated as I considered a rebuttal from an intellectual standpoint , basically expressing all of the aforementioned thoughts. Unfortunately I overestimate the IQ/maturity level of people.
