And now his watch has ended 😔 Maester Aemon has been one of my favourite characters and I give a lot of the credit to Peter who brought him to life. I cried at his death in last years episode 2 season 5 and I'm crying again now. He lived a long life and made around 200 appearances in film and TV. It's so sad to see him go and to be added to the already devastating list of talented people who have died this year. RIP Peter Vaughan #petervaughan#maesteraemon
“There’s a lot of metabolic reasons why the average night of sleep starts to go down over time. We hear that, “Oh, elderly people only need five hours a night or six hours a night, and babies need twelve.” Well, that’s not necessarily the case...it’s just that it becomes more and more difficult to sleep as your physiology starts to decline and your metabolic rate starts to decline.” ~ Matt Stone
“Good sleep requires fairly vigorous metabolism and a normal body temperature. In old age, the metabolic rate is decreased, and sleep becomes defective.” ~ Ray Peat, PhD
“Energy production and resting body temperature regulate many functions. Ample energy is required to relax fully and sleep deeply. The key to quality sleep is high energy metabolism and maintaining optimal body temperature (98-98.6F). Children sleep well because of their ability to maintain a high body temperature and produce energy and carbon dioxide. The combination of these factors lead to restful sleep rather than inflammatory or stressful sleep.
Disturbed rest is associated with aging, obesity, menopause, depression, and other health problems. If sleep quality is poor, the basis for the issue is an energy problem.“ ~ Functional Performance Systems @functionalps
“I am sorry to have woken you, Maester,” Jon Snow said. “You did not wake me,” Maester Aemon replied. “I find I need less sleep as I grow older, and I am grown very old. I often spend half the night with ghosts, remembering times fifty years past as if they were yesterday. The mystery of a midnight visitor is a welcome diversion.” ~ A Game of Thrones: A Song of Ice and Fire
“Just now the moonlight was falling through the round window straight on to Heidi's bed. She lay under the heavy coverlid, her cheeks rosy with sleep, her head peacefully resting on her little round arm, and with a happy expression on her baby face as if dreaming of something pleasant. The old man stood looking down on the sleeping child until the moon again disappeared behind the clouds and he could see no more, then he went back to bed.” ~ Heidi

“Thousands of years before the first sept opened its doors in Oldtown, the city had been home to the Citadel, where boys and young men from all over Westeros came to study, learn, and forge their chains as maesters. No greater seat of knowledge exists anywhere in the world.”
👉🏼 would you rather be a brother of the Night’s Watch or a maester?
Maester Aemon: What is honor compared to a woman's love? What is duty against the feel of a newborn son in your arms... or the memory of a brothers smile? Wind and words. Wind and words. We are only human, and the gods have fashioned us for love. That is our great glory, and our great tragedy. @gameofthrones #jonsnow#maesteraemon#gameofthrones#صراع_العروش#لعبة_العروش#جون_سنو#ماستر_ايمون#الكويت#فوكس @kitharingtonig #kitharington#كيت_هارينغتون
