Throughout #BlackHistoryMonth, this account is placing the spotlight on some of George’s closest friends, collaborators, and musical heroes. Next in the series: #NathanEast.
“George Harrison was literally one of the nicest men I have ever known in my life, most gracious and generous. You have to imagine standing on stage with a Beatle performing those songs that are part of your DNA… it was the experience of a lifetime, one that I will never forget. George like Eric [Clapton] became much more than a musical associate, he was a dear friend. It was really fun just hanging out with George… we even meditated together. Every time I was in London, George would send a car to pick me up and take me to his house in the country to hang with him, Olivia, and their son Dhani. We had the best time! They even welcomed my parents into their home to stay once which was such a thrill for all of us! To play with George was like being part of musical history and to interact with someone so influential in the world of music was a huge honor and opportunity for which I will always be grateful.” - Nathan East, Smooth Jazz Notes, September 2007 🎶 Photo courtesy of Nathan’s Twitter feed.
Day 4 of NAMM, the Sunday when it winds down and everyone goes home. I made a few last stops, said goodbyes and was heading toward the exit, when I ran into the man, @nathaneast ! Just about anyone reading this, you've probably heard him all your lives (Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Daft Punk, Mariah Carey, Phil Collins, Eric Clapton, Celine Dion, Usher, Fourplay, Michael Bublé, Elton John, Bob Dylan, many more) - the list is staggering, something like 2,000+ albums he played bass on! He asked me what bass I was using (@bradymuckelroy ), minutes later a crowd began to form, and we got this pic before I left. What a great way to end the trip. Thanks for the inspiration, Nathan! @bassmusicianmag #legend#namm2018#thenammshow#nathaneast#kentbeattymusic#monocreators#muckelroybasses#tsunamicables#bassmusicianmag
