My dad once told be of this spectacular purple tree that was covered in big droopy flowers. At the time it took me a long time to figure out what genus of plant he was actually talking about. We planted this American Wisteria (Wisteria macrostachya - “Aunt Dee”) a year after my dad died. Scott (who had no idea of this conversation between me & my dad) had trained several native Wisterias, both purple & white into tree form. We get so many comments from visitors to the garden about this plant, especially because it can flower on and off all summer long.
Tonight i went to yoga, in a class filled with both men and women.. Solidarity.. Respect.. Connection.. I walked back to my car alone, and a man who was walking up the same side of the street i was walking down crossed the road when he saw me.. I wondered if it was just coincidence, or reactionary, or him thinking i felt threatened.. I hate that, and it makes me so sad too.. Every woman (and man) has the right to feel safe.. No matter what they're wearing, where they are going, what time of day or night, if they are at home.. Context does not matter.. Love and respect does.. Tonight, thousands of people have gathered to remember gorgeous Eurydice Dixon who lost her life simply walking home, and the Arts Centre spire is eminating an orange light to end violence against women.. And I'm going home to light a candle, for hope that this ends.. 💜 and a thankyou to the incredible men in my life for leading by example.. 💜 ☄ #lifeofayogateacher#lifeofaunistudent#lifeofananny#gratitude#life#love#family#friends#mood#art#home#vigil#princesspark#candle#rememberance#eurydice#artscentre#melbourne#2018#thisis31#respect#women#solidarity#unitednations#orange
