Adán was the youngest son of one of the richest and most powerful families on The Iberian Peninsula. He charmed his way through life as a libertine, without any cares, until The Great Black Plague eradicated most of the people of his country in the XIV century.
His whole household fell into the sickness, and their riches and splendor were in the end all for nothing. As they died alongside the rest of the nation at the time. Adán was cowardly, spoiled and ignorant, he didn’t want to die in the peak of his blossoming youth. So when he contracted the illness, it infuriated him. In a fit, he cursed and renounced god. Then the Devil came to him one day, and offered him a cure to the illness, also promising him eternal life and beauty.
Adán gave away his own soul, and even though he was promised to be cured he was only cursed now with eternal life, and bound to an eerie silence, since the disease had left him deaf. Now mute, he is not able to charm anyone with his once sweet words, yet it does not stop him from trying.
He is the most content of the group with his long life, and does not regret selling away his soul, and life. He sees it as a sort of game he has to play now.
