Race day is 5 days away!! Ahhhh!! I've got to admit, after taking a short break last week and with the warm weather/humidity in full force again, I've been feeling like the goal I set for myself might be out of reach. I went out this morning and ran 3 miles at race pace and honestly, I felt gassed. You mean in 5 days I have to run 13.1 miles at THIS pace, THIS PACE?!? But then I gave myself a talking to. You CAN do this Lauren. You CAN reach your goal. You ARE able to achieve what you want to. You DO run at this pace. And on and on. I decided to quash those fears and speak to myself in a way that will lead to me succeeding. I DECIDE. So #takethat fear. You can eat my dust!
#poppyrun2017 - my first charity run and 5k medal ever. And I've learnt an important thing: #restrestrest. The last couple week chasing the #sub2hourhalf became my obsession. I'm training 5-6 times per week, attending double classes and truly believe each squats and each steps on a treadmill will shave off seconds from my next half-marathon. Well, that's true and nothing wrong with it, I only forgot, that I'm still a human, who's been lazy for 24 years and who got a life actually. So today, when my aim was a quicky 5k and did a superfast first kilometer(4:53 - is it even me?) my body and mind shouted me to stop and all the rest was a suffery run. Which is not good, because I love the fun of the races, to meet with other runners, to wave for people. So it's time to take a tiny step back, let the numbers a bit down and enjoy that I got a body, which makes me able to run. 🙌#zsanettsroadtothemarathon
My first ever sub 2 hour half marathon! I can not even believe it. It was definitely rough going at times, but it felt really good to cross that finish line. Thank you to @mainemarathon for a fantastic race and to all of the volunteers who help with all of the set up, coordination, safety, water stops, music, etc., @runawaysrunclub and @oldportpubrun for letting me tag along when I can on your weekly runs and for their fantastic cheering and sign squads (it was just the pick up I needed!), @chelseaisbeta for keeping me company part of the way and the moral support, @stacysco for being one of my favorite human beings and running buddies and being there just when I needed it most, @ali_baba_ants for providing some big time moral support and a pep talk when I really needed it, @ymichelle823 for your lovely and fantastic message yesterday, @pottlek for being my running buddy and all of your support always, @keithdenecker and @the_golden_boys_ for coming out to watch the race and cheer!!
