We as humans fear what we don’t understand and we hate what we fear. The process of helping children and adults overcome their fears and learn about new animals is a passion of mine. Animals like spiders and snakes are often misunderstood. Take Aragog here as an example. She’s as calm as can be when she being handled, she’s fuzzy, and has the cutest little feet you’ll ever see. She often spins webs on my hands and has crawled up my neck to hang out, upside down, on my chin. You can see the progress in these pictures. First fear, but as I told him a more about here you can see the curiosity set in. We talked a bit more about her and then he was willing to hold her. As I expected she just sat there in his hand. Then of course he got a high five, it may have also been after the snake, for being so brave. Tarantulas are a wonderful part of our shows and we love to see fear replaced with curiosity and acceptance. .
