I didn’t choose the country life, the country life chose me...
Many of you might not know this but I was born in Chicago, and at 18 months old my dad moved us from the city to Grand Junction, Michigan (Boonieville as I like to call it).
I loved it as a kid, playing in the woods, climbing trees, and racing like mad to get away from the orchards after sneaking fallen apples because my dad told us the Farmers would string us up if we got caught.
Summers were the best. I spent many nights fishing for catfish getting eaten alive by mosquitos, but it was all worth it having fresh fried filets with breakfast the next morning.
I thrived outside, and when things with my parents got rough being in the wide open spaces was a place of peace and comfort for me.
We moved to Cali my Sophmore year, and it was a huge culture shock for me.
I was quiet, reserved and shy.
My first day of school a lot of kids thought I was a teachers aide; coke bottle classes, thrift store clothes, and a rolling backpack my grandma insisted I use “to save my back from all the heavy books.” It took some time but I came into my own and made great friends there over the years.
I enjoyed the suburbs, but my heart always yearned for the country.
Thankfully my husband and I had similar dreams when we got together, and after my time in the service, we settled back in the Midwest on 5 acres.
Living here isn’t as glamorous as I remembered as a kid.
It’s a ton of work up-keeping the property and house.
My husband decided to throw chickens into the mix last spring to keep things even more interesting.
I’m hopeful this year to get our garden plot established. We will see how green my thumbs actually are lol
It may be a lot of work, but anything worth having is, and I’m okay with that.

At first glance I assumed Senator Duckworth was in a wheelchair because she needed assistance after birth. Then I read the article and learned she’s a veteran who lost both of her legs in combat in Iraq. She’s the first woman to give birth while in the Senate and her baby Maile made history as the first infant to be brought onto the Senate floor. Votes have to be cast in person and months of negotiations made it possible for her to bring her baby in with her to cast a vote. Running for office is a feat in itself but doing that after being wounded in service is just remarkable. ❤️ #veteran#endabortion#ifshecandoitsocanyou#haveyourbaby
I have never heard of Avicii till today and his tragic passing. I googled a song called "wake up" and connected to it right away and was moved to tears in seconds and immediately had the words for a poem and stopped it to write this. I didn't know you but I hope this does you justice and feel it does. R.I.P
"Riny tin tin riny tin,
Channel the love from deep within,
Riny time time riny feel,
It's like cherry pepsi on ice the love is real,
Lovey dove dove lovey dove,
The magic is true and so is the love,
Soey so so soey so,
I love you all and I want you to know,
Miney mine mine miney mine,
My heart's with yours and yours with mine."
