What started off as a decent lunch, turned into a very disappointing adventure. Octopus, crisp and tender, with saffron, potatoes and pinenuts, was quite satisfying, although I had much better. The guys at Aliada in Astoria, Queens take the cake for the best one in NYC in my opinion. Roasted Oysters with spinach and Parmesan were absolutely superb and probably the only highlight of this upsetting Sunday meal. Next came the most disappointing dish or a ‘side’ to be precise of 2018 so far. Soaked in so much oil that I could probably feel lighter after having quadruple bypass burger with absolutely no seasoning made me so upset that I almost wanted to apologize to these beautiful mushrooms for having such a shameful destiny. After pointing out my disappointment to the waiter I was faced with a sour face and an attitude that completely sent me into a downward spiral that the kitchen ‘didnt have enough time’. Excuse me,but I am not dining at Applebees here and you call yourself one Michelin Star Establishment? Make it nice or make it twice. Dont see myself coming back anytime soon.
