The suns corona rippling out from behind the moon during today's solar eclipse as seen from near Ironside Oregon on @blmoregon @mypubliclands lands. I shot this with an @oriontelescopes SkyView8 with a 40mm lens and my trusty old @canonusa 5DII since my newer cameras were busy failing miserably at other things I thought I could pull off. In truth I abandoned my planned efforts and spent most of totality in utter awe, with my hands wrapped tight around my wife, while we watched our dog try to figure out what the hell was going on. Luckily I had the backup camera mounted on the scope, pre-focused. As was said (I think) to @nasa astronauts Edgar Mitchell and Alan Shepard after they nearly reached the rim of Cone Crater but got slightly off track "you aren't lost if you don't know it." #eclipse#eclipse2017#smithsonian#photooftheday#oregon#science#space#totality#sun#solareclipse#moon

💥Airplane For Hip Stability💥
The airplane is a drill I give as a prep for single leg strength. Whether you're trying to rehab a knee or find some supplemental strength work to support a running program, the airplane should be a staple in your routine.
🔑Start by performing a partial squat with the knees bent to around 30 degrees. At this degree of knee bend, you'll get optimal co-activation of quads and hamstrings so it makes for a good working range for any prehab/rehab setting.
🔑Next, slide the one leg back and lock it out as if doing a Birddog. The back foot should be used only as a kickstand with 90+ percent of your weight being on the lead leg.
🔑With a torso lean that lines up with the ankle, knee, and hip, slowly rotate into the down leg. Rotate as much as you can towards the end range without standing upright or flexing forward. Hold the end range for 1-2 full breath cycles.
🔑Come back to neutral and Reset a good posture if needed, then rotate away from the down leg. As you do this, try to prevent caving of the knee in and maintain the same spinal angle. .
🔑Repeat for 60-90 seconds on each leg.
The squat, lunge, press, pull and rotate are the 5 basic fundamental movements that are required in life. Many of us struggle in 1 or more area, which is why we develop long term pain and dysfunction.
I try to be very practical and pragmatic with my approach to movement. As much as I would love to see everyone move very well in all 5 areas, the reality is that isn't all that realistic. -
What I have learned is that as long as you are at least somewhat proficient in all 5 areas, you have a decent shot at being resilient. A big issue that people face is when they are really good in one area and really poor in another. The imbalance is dangerous. -
Strive to be at least mediocre in all 5. That isn't too hard, right?
